Egg fun!

The kids dyeing Easter eggs.

We did an egg-periment using a raw egg. We put it in a glass of vinegar and let it sit for 7 days and the shell comes off the egg and you are left with a shell-less raw egg! You can see the yolk through the outside although it's hard to see in the picture. It was a really neat experiment. We had a lot of fun with it. Curtis and Emily were up at 6:30 am getting the egg out this morning.

Princess Palace

Emily attended a Teddy Bear Tea at the Princess Palace in Kernersville, NC with her bear -Cindy. She got dressed up like a princess, wore heels and even had a little make-up put on. She was totally covered from head to toe in her favorite color "pink." The girls all ate chicken nuggets, petit cakes, grapes. She also decorated a new outfit for Cindy and at the end they walked down the stage and showed off. She had a wonderful time.

Finally an update!

I don't know why they call it homeschool, we're never home! Curtis is full swing in to homeschooling. He is doing great. He has been playing basketball with i9 Sports and his team is the Tarheels. They have won one game so far. He is also involved in a class at the YMCA for homeschoolers and he takes guitar lessons once weekly.

Emily is doing great in school. I was thinking about her milestones the other day. She has come a long way in reading and writing. At the beginning of the school year she could barely write her name legibly without a lot of stress and now she writes both her first and last name and can recognize many words and counts to 100! She is doing wonderfully. She also passed out all of her Valentines to the kids in her class on V-day last month. She could read their names. I was very proud of her.
Emily had the flu about a week ago. She was pretty sick for 2 days and then got better really quick. She was congested for a few days longer but that was it. She had everyone at school praying for her as well as us.
We are so ready for spring. I'm glad to see March get here. I'm always glad to get out of the duldrums of January and February. We went bike riding this past weekend when the weather was so nice and look forward to more biking and hiking in the coming weeks.
A couple of pictures to share..
Curtis preparing our burgers last weekend. He loves to cook! He fixed a batch of home made biscuits this morning before Emily left for school.

Emily vegging out on the couch. On the right she is very proud of her fruit kabob!

Proof that Curtis does do school work. ;) Emily took this picture of Curtis busy with school last week.

Christmas!

We had a lot going on in December besides our vacation to NY and PA. The kids had parties at school. The middle school took the kids to Bounce U for a special field trip and the Kindergarten and 1st grades were taken to Chuck e Cheese. I finished up my first semester in school. Curtis had taken weekly guitar lessons the first semester of school and he got the chance to show what he had learned during chapel in early December. Emily was in the school Christmas play. And ofcourse there were Christmas celebrations! Curtis and Emily were out of school for two weeks. We baked cookies and fudge, did a lot of shopping together and they mostly hung out together. They return to school Jan 3rd.

New York Vacation

We took a trip to Pennsylvania and New York in mid-December. We visited New York City, Philadelphia, Long Island. Went by to see Brian and Nona in Sea Cliff.

We visited some museums and tourist spots....just a few: Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, Museum of Natural History, Central Park Zoo, NBC store, Ground zero, Seaport Museum in PA, the liberty bell, Aquarium in New Jersey, Long Beach and Atlantic beach on Long Island. Curtis and Emily enjoyed riding in the taxi cabs and on the subway. We did a lot of walking and sitting in traffic. We ate a lot of good food at quite a few restaurants.
